The practical session aims to explore movement through exercises to improve joint mobility and flexibility. In particular, the focus will be on the hip complex through a ground-up progression.

Each exercise will be driven by a detailed explanation by Andrea Varri on variations, customizations, and specific connections to karate training.

In the first part of this session we will overview injury risk in karate, with a focus on the training phase and non-contact injuries.
In the second part we will analyze the training-related factors that most affect injury risk. We will then look at some examples on how to increase injury prevention related to exercises and athletic training programs.

INTRO TO FUNCTIONAL BODYWEIGHT & RESISTANCE TRAINING

In the first part of this session, we will analyze and demonstrate a sequence of bodyweight exercises highlighting key aspects related to karate practice. In the second part, we will introduce the use of elastic bands to improve the efficiency of specific movements. Finally, we will see examples of how to make the most of overloads by evaluating pros and cons in karate athletic training.
